Sunnie Deis is a long-time volunteer and former board member of the Chaska History Center. For sixteen years she has been preserving the thousands of photographs that have been donated to the center. These are old time family photos, flood pictures and scenes of historic Chaska, some of which go back to the late 1800s.
Sunnie came from the business world and brought needed computer skills to the History Center. She began her work about the same time as the history center purchased a computer and a scanner and she accomplished the enormous task of scanning and storing a backload of photos going back many years. Being her own boss, in her own little corner, is something Sunnie loves about her volunteer job. She just faces the deadlines she sets for herself. Sunnie enters all the detailed information about the photo, scans it and stores the originals in special folders. She is proud to work on preserving the visual parts of Chaska’s history, and the stories each of them tells.
