About the series

Session 5: Heroes Among Us – Tracing Family Military History

Was someone in your family a soldier, sailor, or nurse? This session will guide you through the rich variety of military records that can bring your ancestor’s service to life. Learn how to find draft cards, enlistment papers, muster rolls, pension files, and discharge documents—and how these records can shed light on personal stories and family connections. Whether your ancestor served in the Civil War or World War II, this session will help you trace their service with confidence.
